Iron and Sulfur Removal Systems

What Your Water Should Actually Look Like

No more orange stains on your toilets and sinks that won’t scrub away. No more embarrassing sulfur smell when guests use your bathroom. No more wondering if what’s coming out of your tap is actually safe.

When your well water filtration system is designed right, your water just works. It doesn’t damage your appliances. It doesn’t stain your fixtures. It doesn’t smell.

You stop buying bottled water. You stop replacing corroded water heaters years too early. You stop scrubbing stains that shouldn’t be there in the first place. Your home feels cleaner because it actually is cleaner.

Well Water Treatment Ocala Ridge

We Only Do Water Treatment

We don’t do plumbing. We don’t install water heaters. We focus entirely on one thing: making your water clean and safe.

That focus matters in Ocala Ridge, where Florida’s limestone geology loads your well water with sulfur compounds and creates perfect conditions for iron bacteria. Generic systems that work elsewhere fail here. We design systems specifically for Central Florida water conditions.

We’re A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau with zero complaints. We’re members of the National Water Quality Association. We actually service what we sell, which apparently makes us different from some of the national companies operating around here.

How Well Water Filtration Works

Testing First, Then the Right System

We start with free water testing at your home. Not a basic test strip. A real analysis that tells us exactly what’s in your water and at what levels.

That matters because one size absolutely does not fit all. If you have high iron levels plus sulfur, you need a hydrogen peroxide injection system with catalytic carbon filtration. If you have iron bacteria, that gets treated first with a CIRS system before anything else goes in. If your water is hard on top of everything else, you need a softener integrated into the design.

Once we know what we’re dealing with, we design a whole-house system for your specific water chemistry and your family’s usage. Then we install it, test it, and make sure it’s actually working before we leave.

You get automatic backwashing systems that maintain themselves. You don’t have to remember to do anything. The system just runs.

What You're Actually Getting Installed

Depending on your water test results, your system might include air injection oxidation to remove iron and manganese. Or hydrogen peroxide injection for higher iron levels combined with sulfur and bacteria issues. Or UV disinfection if bacteria is the main concern.

Most Ocala Ridge homes need multi-stage filtration because Florida well water rarely has just one problem. The sulfur that makes your water smell is often accompanied by iron that stains everything. The iron bacteria that restricts your water flow also creates conditions for more harmful bacteria to grow.

Your system gets designed around your actual problems, not a pre-packaged solution. We include the filtration equipment, the installation, the testing, and the explanation of how to maintain it. We also service all makes of water treatment equipment, so if something goes wrong three years from now, we’re still here.

Why does my well water smell like rotten eggs?

That’s hydrogen sulfide gas, and it’s common in Ocala Ridge because of Florida’s limestone geology. Sulfur compounds are naturally present in the aquifer, and bacteria in your well system convert them into hydrogen sulfide.

It’s not usually harmful to drink, but it’s unpleasant and embarrassing. The smell gets worse when your water sits in the pipes or when it’s heated.

The fix is an oxidation system that converts the hydrogen sulfide into sulfur particles, then filters them out. For most homes here, that means either air injection oxidation or hydrogen peroxide injection depending on what else is in your water. If you also have high iron levels, hydrogen peroxide systems work better because they handle both problems at once.

Iron in your well water. When iron-rich water hits the air, it oxidizes and turns orange or reddish-brown. That’s what you’re seeing on your fixtures.

Central Florida well water often contains dissolved iron at levels high enough to cause visible staining. Even low levels will eventually create that orange ring that won’t scrub away no matter how hard you try.

Iron also damages your appliances over time. It builds up in your water heater, your washing machine, and your pipes. Replacing a water heater costs a lot more than installing an iron removal system in the first place. The solution is oxidation followed by filtration. We oxidize the dissolved iron so it becomes a particle, then filter it out before it reaches your fixtures.

You’ll usually see reddish-brown slime in your toilet tank or a rainbow-colored sheen on standing water. Your water might have a swampy smell. You might notice reduced water pressure because the bacteria creates buildup that restricts flow.

Iron bacteria isn’t harmful to ingest, but it corrodes pipes, damages equipment, and creates an environment where more harmful bacteria can flourish. It’s also stubborn. You can’t just filter it out.

Treatment requires disinfection first, usually with a CIRS system that kills the bacteria before other filtration equipment gets installed. If you install a regular iron removal system without treating the bacteria first, the bacteria will just colonize your new equipment and you’ll have the same problem. That’s why water testing matters before any installation.

No. Water softeners remove hardness minerals like calcium and magnesium. They’re not designed to remove iron or sulfur, and using them for that purpose will damage the resin bed.

Some softeners claim they can handle low levels of iron, but in practice, the iron fouls the resin and you end up with expensive repairs. In Ocala Ridge, where iron levels are often higher than those “low level” thresholds, a softener alone won’t solve your problem.

You need iron and sulfur removed first with an oxidation and filtration system. Then, if your water is also hard, you add a softener after that. The systems work together but they’re not interchangeable. Trying to make a softener do a job it’s not designed for just means you’ll be replacing it sooner than you should.

It depends entirely on what’s in your water and what needs to be removed. A basic iron removal system costs less than a multi-stage system that handles iron, sulfur, bacteria, and hardness.

That’s why we start with free water testing. We’re not going to quote you a price without knowing what we’re actually treating. Some companies will sell you a pre-packaged system without testing your water first, and then you end up with equipment that doesn’t solve your problem.

What we can tell you is that a properly designed system pays for itself. You stop buying bottled water. Your appliances last longer. Your water heater doesn’t corrode out years early. You’re not constantly buying cleaning products to fight stains that shouldn’t exist. Most systems pay for themselves within two to three years just from reduced cleaning and detergent costs.
